A research proposal for measuring the progress of learning in an online training module, based on measurements of cognitive load.   The general end goal of this proposal, and, I think, other proposals like this that I have written bits of, was to conceptualize and design interactive learning modules [modular systems + content] that measure learner performance, grade the progress of knowledge acquisition (richness in chunking, performance in cognitive load measures), infer learner characteristics on that basis, and have the system reorganize itself on the fly to optimize all associated outcomes.
